A random Thanksgiving thought…
I have read a few things on facebook, and watched different things and how
different reactions are, and figured i’d write this…
There are 2 kinds of people in the world, and within those 2 groups,
variations of each, which break down more distinctly.
There are those who do not read news, weather, current events, and just concern themselves with what fun is to be had the next moment. Their education levels are lower than usual, and in some cases – non-existent; which doesn’t concern them – because at the end of the day it’s how many people they know, and who likes them and who do they like. The focus on creativity, and music, and fun and the sun and so on. Most of their friends are similar, and they don’t understand the other group of people, finding them still and boring and not entertaining, but they’ll talk to them when they need to because they are useful and serve a purpose on occasion, but then again, they are also not the kind of people that they’d include in their circle of friends.
Each of the people in this group, thrive on new ideas, and changing things, but only things within their world which makes it easier for them to maintain their lifestyles, and continue seeking fun and joy everywhere. We have artists, poets, musicians, for this reason. DJ’s, bands, and promoters, and so on, for this same reason.
The other group of people, educates, and obsesses about world events, and injustice, and the plight of mankind. The consumption of resources, and where are we all going to live in the future because we’re all breeding on a limited real estate marble floating in space. They count numbers, and balance cheque books, pay their bills on time, and have a collection of documentaries, and books which surround them. All these documentaries, are on civilizations past, history, sciences, nature, and so on, and their books are also equally reflective.
You can see them in the office towers, and the food courts at lunch, up early in the morning, and in bed before midnight on most days, they buy real estate, and own virtually everything on the planet, and get involved in what’s going on around them, whether its news, weather or sports. This group of people write the laws, create the tools and items you all use in your group. Cell phones, computers, software, buildings, coffee shop chains, and so on.
Most of you are in the first group. I’m in the second.
Neither group of people, is able to survive without the other. That is a fact of the universe.
My group of people couldn’t survive without music, or art, or clothing, or design, or color. We would stagnate and die.
Your group of people couldn’t survive without laws, buildings, computers, or mobile phones, or the very structure in which you constantly rebel.
As you get older, a percentage of you, from your group, will drift over to my group, and a percentage of my group – as they are older – will drift over to your group.
Some of your group will become lawyers, and doctors, and involved in law enforcement. Some will fight causes, and invent new technologies, which will yet again, change how things are done in the world.
Some of my group, will abandon the structures, and embrace the color, and write books, and poetry. Paint scenery and design sculptor. And bring color and life into the world.
But still again. Both groups need to exist, and learn how to appreciate the other. So, today, when i read that little blurb on Facebook, with its’ condescension on the group that sustains them, i thought it was interesting, but short sighted.
Now, here is a few things about one group and the other, that you each may not be aware of. For example: Currently we have house music in the clubs, and we dance and love, and party to it, yet, where does that originate? Would it exist of someone in my group; Abraham Lincoln; hadn’t fought and abolished slavery, and if someone in my group – Martin Luther King; hadn’t died for the sake of equality?
Each of these men, worried about the woes of the world, and the events of the day, and made it their purpose to fight for causes, and both were killed for it, so that you could today, be free to carry on with your lifestyles in your group.
The idealist who desired to know the secrets of the universe, and embarked upon the splitting of the atom, was not trying to design a weapon which changed the balance of power in the world.
When Leonardo De Vinci, embarked upon the miracle of self propelled flight he did not have visions of bombs being dropped from the under carriage.
When the pendulum of society, swings too much one way or the other, society dies. When we lose art, and music and color, we see the world fall into what Hitler created, as he was the predator of the day, to capitalize on the human desire for that color.
Or the end of the Roman world, when the society who ruled, was so involved with hedonism, and games and current distractions, that they ignored the engineers – from my group – of the day, warning of lead poisoning, and a danger to their society at large.
There are two sides to every coin, and the balance, one way or the other, will destroy the entire society at large. And every great society, which has perished, did so by their denial of current events, and true information, and their pursuit of hedonism and creativity….
so…
I don’t say that you’re fickle, and stupid. Or tell you that partying all night is foolishness, or dumb, and a waste of your time. I don’t say anything negative about drug consumption, or hedonistic practices, because those are the aspects of your group, which i have to accept, if i am willing to accept you. So i do. Keeping my commentaries to your health, and welfare, and a concern for your hearts, and minds, and well being.
I do it the way people in my group do it, because i don’t have any other precedent to pull from, which is equatable to your group’s understandings.
And although, currently, I am aware that my inclusion, is useful to you, so it is tolerable for you, in the end, you don’t understand me, or my group, and haven’t made an effort to do so.
Therefore do not say that we are embittered because we fight for causes, in which you are able to flourish, or create rules and structures which are not with foresight… for that is just as much of an ignorance.
So I’m asking you to now to make the same effort to understand us, because someday you may marry someone in this group, or may yourself, be in this group, and you will relate to things, based upon the rules and functioning of your group, and be treated with an equal amount of the tolerance you have toward me now.
And it will be hurtful and difficult for you then, as it is for me now. You see the problem for all of us, is that we’re stuck with both groups. We don’t get it either way, and we can’t live without it either way.
The truth of wisdom for anyone, in either group, is in their ability to extend themselves, in order to try to understand, and appreciate the good that each group brings to the world; in spite of the bad, which both groups have also wrought upon each other.
Hardly a random thought, James. How you’ve been able to devolve such insight into any discussion pertaining to any/and/or all religious belief systems is the quandary. Not a lot of human beings on the planet are capable of summarizing any belief to the extent you’ve expressed above but, the question remains, what exactly are you espousing? Should you continue to drop in on atheist sites you’d be better served by explaining exactly what you’ve done regarding the above. Many wouldn’t be bothered to research your origins and if you’re unable to encourage those to do so you’re defeating the purpose of your commentary. A worthwhile endeavor, I believe. Unfortunately, there are far more than 2 types of people in the world, unless you’re an American, a country mandating that you’re either a donkey or an elephant. Sad.
Peace.
Ps..If this is actually YOUR blog I’ll be following it. Interesting stuff.

Dave… actually, i said, “There are 2 kinds of people in the world, and within those 2 groups, variations of each, which break down more distinctly.”
thus obviously there are more than 2 types… within each definition… however, truly… in this modern age? individuals either absorb the information, or they ignore it… it is truly so banal now… sad as that is…
one can not be of one or the other, for if one has information, they are then, a ‘variation’ of the definition of one group.

James, a concise world-view from your standpoint would be appreciated, regardless of affiliation. Don’t forget, the Romans also considered themselves participants in this “modern age”. We’re no different. A concise definition as to what you’re interpretation of what that might be, would be helpful, though not really necessary as the anonymity of the web precludes any and all responsibility for anyone to divulge true intent, obviously, myself included. I have a personal agenda, revealed to only one website which has consistently proved itself to be above reproach. Big deal. I’m not sure of yours but I find it stimulating that you appear open to discussion.
Cheers.

yeah no worries. i haven’t written in here for a bit, but i’m going to write something tonight, and that will be your answer. you won’t like it, and you will try to rationalize and logically define it, but you won’t be able to, which is all good, cuz a the end of the day you can’t argue it… because it’s my experience, and that, you can’t debate. you can slander, it criticize it, even ridicule it, but you won’t be able to argue it. so you’ll be left with nothing but your own questions which are evoked by it.
so be it.
such is the nature of man
