The Moral of the Story….

There was a little girl, who was strong willed and stubborn, with a very powerful faith and trust in God.  One day, a visitor came to her house, a friend of her father, and he was a cynical, proud, haughty man, declaring many things, and needing facts and proof of everything. He listened to this little girl and how she loved God and talked about God as though He was there, in the house, constantly speaking with her.  At every turn he snickered and chuckled at the little girl, dismissing her faith as the fancy of a child.

Yet she was never rattled, or ridiculed in her faith and steadfast in her hope.

Well one day, this family decided to go on a picnic and made plans for the coming Saturday. The little girl was happy and excited, and organizing what toys she would bring, and idea’s for games that they could all play together!

The Friday night, at the dinner table, while saying grace, the little girl spoke up when the blessing for the food was almost complete, taking everyone by surprise, saying, “And God? Please let us have a sunny beautiful day tomorrow for our picnic! Thank you!”

The guest smiled in that condescending manner that some adults do toward children, thinking their actions are cute and quaint but truly dismissing them, which brought a confident statement from the little girl, “you’ll see! God will answer my prayer!”

The next morning the little girl rose quickly and ran to the window. It was storming outside, with strong rain, and wind, as the sky was filled with dark clouds.

The visitor came down the stairs, and seeing the girl at the window, walked over to her, in his confident all knowing manner. He stood beside her looking out  the window, and looking down at the little girl he said in a superior manner, “Well! It seems that God didn’t answer your prayer did he!”

The little girl, glanced up at the visitor, with one eyebrow cocked ever so slightly and looked back out the window, then, in a sure and confident voice said, “Yes He did. He said no.”
