I remember, and though most of you reading won’t understand how i remember, if you’ve been within it, you will, because it is likely that you – to a degree – still function as such…

however, I remember when society meant a group of people from a semi-closed social system in which interactions was with other individuals belonging to the same class or system.  Where it is the actual arrangement of social relationships within a culture of made up beliefs and symbolic form. Such as a royal society, or a ruling class.

Within anthropology, society is differentiated into groups such as Hunter-gather, Tribal, Stratified, and civilization, specifically then into 5 sections within those groups such as: hunter and gathers, simple agriculture, advanced agriculture, industrial and now, which has been added, as virtual (this internet you’re reading now).

however, now i see that society as a basis of descriptor just means the masses. The common, the provincial and the entire group of humanity at large.

I am still of the belief that hierarchies exist. I see it everyday, in spite of the fact that most prefer to live in denial.

In school yards, in offices, on buses, in cafe’s and in restaurants, in bars and pubs. You see, most of you still function within that structure. You will say you don’t but you do. You will associate with those whom dress as you dress, drink what you drink. Watch what sports and tv shows you watch, and like the same things you like.

Whether you like it or not, you are functioning with the same snooty mentality to which you declare you would never participate while in the midst of doing so…

I on the other hand, fully declare that I function thusly, because I have the birth right to function thusly, yet, I see no distinction between one person or another, as the right to their humanity and treat all equally, unless they perceive themselves to be “better” than or “more entitled” to any particular type of treatment.

Because anyone like that, doesn’t deserve it, especially if they spend their lives striving toward a level of “socially acceptable” success. Those who strive, are not. Those you desire, know not. And those who want, have not.

Ironically the humor for me is that they will never have, or know, or be, except within their own illusions.

So when you look down on me, lets try to remember something shall we? I am already in the history books. I never had to be anything, or ever aspire to any station. I have it by right of birth ratified by God.

And remember one more thing. Hundred’s of thousands of people die everyday. Even those who are famous for a moment, but even within those, less than 1% are remembered by the next generation. Don’t believe me? Ask children today who Elvis Presley is, or better yet, ask the 20 something’s if they like the Beatles. Even they’re not remembered and they’re not all even dead yet.

So then, which one’s will you be? Will you be that forgotten headstone in a field of lily’s or will you be relevant.

And if you think that I believe I’m better than you? I want to thank you, because it is by your actions that I am of better quality. Not by mine.

append: actually, I’ve thought about it… there is no such thing as society anymore… and either way, I’m not a participant
