My First Blog of 2009

First of all I’d like to wish you all a happy new year, and hope that 2008 saw you well.

I was initially going to write a simple blog with things that I’m doing right now, for this coming year. My feelings about my girlfriend, and what I pondered regarding my life for this coming year, and my intentions and methods toward the achievement of the next 12 months.

I then went and read a few of the blogs which I have on my blog roll, and came across a link for a comment regarding the events occurring in Gaza. It was a viewpoint or article (I haven’t actually figured it out yet) from an online printing called “ArabComment.”

Now I’m not at all antisemitic, and never have been. Nor will I ever be – by much of what I’ve written – anti-Arabic, or anti-Muslim. However, this little article made me laugh. Specifically the following paragraph:

In the days leading up to the Israeli Air Force air strike, as Palestinian militants launched more and more rockets in an effort to induce a new cease-fire from Israel, under better terms than the one that expired December 19th, Israeli politicians wavered between preaching patience and calling for attacks, with both sides appearing to have the February elections in mind.

Ok… “…as Palestinian militants launched more and more rockets in an effort to induce a new cease-fire from Israel…”

Am I the only one who thinks that is the most ridiculous method to garner a better cease-fire?

K, let’s see… “…we are not shooting at each other. We currently have a cease-fire. Our cease-fire is now about to end… so you know what? Instead of going back to the table and re-negotiate, we’ll fire on them; that’ll let them know that we still want peace, but we want one that is more suitable to us…”

That to me, is the most ass backward logic or understanding that I’ve ever read in my life.

“I want to have better auto insurance. So, in order to get my insurance company to give me a better rate, I’m going to go out and hit everything I possibly can with my vehicle. That should convince my insurance company that I’m really deserving of a better rate plan.”

I am sorry folks. The Palestinian’s started this, and they are just reaping what they sowed.  Sure, great, I get all the religious motivation. I understand their doctrines and their reasoning. I don’t have to agree with them to understand why they are doing or believing something. Zeal, and determined faith tend to have that narrow viewpoint, but please…

commonsense – no matter what culture, religion, gender or age you are, must be in there somewhere.

If I want peace with my neighbour. I don’t start a fight. Especially when we’ve already talked and managed to have peace. Why start another rift? Even the Hamas must realize that they’re out gunned. DOH!

Granted, Hamas hasn’t ever wanted peace. It wants the annihilation of all Jews and Christians. But geez… Even Japan had enough sense to take us out financially after the 2nd world war.

It is interesting to me that the world isn’t just standing behind Hamas on this little turn of events. I think that people – on a global level – are tired of the fighting, and the tired of people causing conflict, when we all have more globally important things which need our collective attentions.

Personally? I think if it were me, and my neighbour did that to me? I’d be pretty much already going house to house and finding the asshole who thought it was a good idea, so that civilians could go about their business.

Because none of the Israeli targets have been civilian. Yet all of the Hamas targets have been. Period.

I don’t care what the propaganda wants to spin it into.

Anyway, I’ll write another blog sometime soon, with more personal stuff in it. However this one? Well I had to just write about it.

People are just so stupid. It amazes me, that we’ve lasted even this long as a species. We are absolutely absent of any semblance of consciousness.
